The Power of Dawah: A Powerful Image in O-Block Illuminates New Possibilities
In a defining moment, an image of a congregational prayer in O-Block, the notorious birthplace of drill rap and a symbol of urban turmoil, has captivated the world, drawing attention to the immense potential for positive change through dawah. Situated within the heart of Chicago’s most dangerous area, O-Block represents a community plagued by gang violence and social upheaval. However, the viral image serves as a striking reminder of the transformative power of faith and the urgent need for further dawah initiatives. In 2018, the Black Dawah Networ and Flaming Crescent Society visited Qur’ans and Autobiographies of Malcolm X to over one hundred residents, but there is still much work to be done. It is time to return to O-Block and reignite the flame of dawah. On July 22, 2023, Muslims will be returning to the O-Block area to help spread the message of Islam.
