Islam, Afrocentrism & the Arab Slave Trade Myth
A five-module course that traces the conscious community’s case against Islam back to its colonial root, tests its claims against the historical record, and recovers the long tradition of Black Muslim thought the polemic conceals.
with Professor Shareef Muhammad
In this course, students will learn to identify where the conscious community’s case against Islam actually originates, to test its most durable claims against the historical record, and to recover the long tradition of Black Muslim thought that the polemic obscures. The modules move deliberately — the first four dismantle, and the fifth builds.
